During the 3rd century BCE Qin Dynasty, Emperor Qin Shi Huang conceived the notion of a ‘Great Wall’ of defense that would span a large swathe of Chinese land. As the first ruler of unified China, Emperor Qin Shi Huang began work on the wall in 221 BCE. Under his leadership, earlier fortifications between Chinese states were removed.
Chinese emperors started to build the wall around 700 B.C. The wall was erected for the purpose of defense and since that time it had additions added onto the structure. The kingdoms built the walls around the areas where they ruled. There were certain dynasties that made considerable improvements on the Great wall throughout its history and Hundreds of years before the Great Wall of China started going up to protect the Qin Dynasty against invasion, the first great wall of China— the Qi wall —was built. In and around 500 BC, the Or: "If you want to know where the Great Wall is, it's at the bottom of people's hearts." It means: if the people make a concerted effort, and their wills unite like the Great Wall, the people will overcome all troubles together. 4. In Civ V it followed the borders of the outermost hexes of your empire, which allowed improvements to still be made upon those hexes. But with each section of the Great Wall in Civ VI literally functioning as a tile improvement, that could prove VERY
